How embarrassing

All the tagging and categorization info on this site seems to be gone. Poof! These are the categories and tags that would help you browse the site by topic.

Very embarrassing for a site about the power of tagging and categorization. The lesson: Metadata needs to be backed upas much as content does.

I didn’t. That’s what’s embarrassing.

Everything is a little *too* miscellaneous. :(

Everybody has a backup “oops” sooner or later. Hang in there.

Now we have to practice what you preach! Who wants to be held back by categories anyway.
Seriously, let’s see if we really miss the tags and categories.

Go back to last backup with tags intact….merge with the entire post table…only most recently tagged items will be missing, but all other previous tagged stuff will be there. That would be my first line of solution. Just a thought.

IOW, get old set WITH tags, update present post IDs with foreign key matches in old set. Can’t recall table names right now, but can look if you’re interested…OTOH, you probably have a few friends that know mySQL and WordPress tables even better than I

i just realized you were probably saying there were NO earlier backups at all. Ouch. If I’m wrong about that, I found the tables (3 of them) that can beused to update from earlier data up to the last backup to merge with the present. Sorry. You may well already know or have nearby friends who know anyway.

Yap… tagging can make searching so simple. Try it again with tag feature.
